How to install or replace your PVB Repair Kit in Illinois

We recommend that you always change both the Bonnett and Poppet at the same time.

• Turn off the water supply and be sure to relieve the water pressure, failure to do so can cause you harm.
• Close the water supply ball valve first on your PVB.
• Go to the sprinkler controller, start each zone or section by manually starting the sprinkler system.
  This will relieve the water pressure in the PVB.
• Turn off the the sprinkler system when the water pressure has been relieved.
• Close the outlet ball valve.
• Be sure that you have relieved water pressure by opening test cocks on your PVB.
• Place large O-Ring (included in kit) around the Bonnet.
• Apply grease that may be included with your kit to the gasket.
• Slide Poppet on to the brass guide stem of Bonnet.
• Thread Bonnet into PVB unit, be sure to hand tighten only!
• Replace PVB top and gently tighten nut on the top using a wrench.
• Turn on the water supply.
• Open water supply side ball valve first and rapidly.
• Open second ball valve.

You have successfully repaired your backflow preventer.
